Ayurveda – The Ancient Science of Bharatha

Ayurveda – An Ancient Science

When have we ever taken a step back and thought that, oh! Our body, this own body, is nothing but one of the miracles of nature, just like plants and animals.

We directly separate ourselves from other species just because we have this super-developed organ called the brain, yet we miss the obvious: nature heals, and being part of it means “our body heals”.

I guess this was how Ayurveda was invented.

Sage Sushruta – Father of Modern Ayurveda

We went straight to Mother Nature, running when we might have fallen sick, just like a child.

Ayurveda has always been more focused on prevention than cure, and I guess that is the beauty of it, because health is the ultimate wealth.

According to Ayurveda, the body is composed of five elements: earth, air, water, space, and fire. Our body is nothing but the balance of these elements. And this perfect balance means nothing but health.

To maintain this balance, doctors rely on immunity in more than half of cases, because, ultimately, the body heals itself.

Ayurveda – Close to Mother Nature

Ayurveda – Always close to Mother Nature

And to improve immunity, you have to remember one short formula—a little secret I have learnt—and I am glad I can share this with you all: being closest to Mother Nature.  In this modern world, we have distanced ourselves from nature in the pursuit of luxury. Nowadays, we are considering nature as a new luxury,

Ayurveda for Natural Living

We have observed that being in nature solves many problems, such as skin diseases, improves mental health, and reduces the risk of autoimmune diseases. We are shifting towards organic, natural foods, which, indeed, is nothing but getting closer to Mother Earth.

Ayurveda – Rasayan chiktsa

But apart from this, Ayurveda moves one step ahead when it comes to immunity. It has dedicated many lessons to improving immunity. It is called “Rasayan chiktsa”. It basically lists treatment protocols to increase or maintain lifespan, memory, intelligence, and youth. It mentions the use of a retreat-like condition where you are put in a cottage and undergo various detoxification procedures with the help of “panchakarma”, post which certain doses of “specific drugs” are used for long-term.

Ayurveda – Ancient Indian Medical Science

I am amazed at how this kind of invention was done back then, yet today we have a multimillion-dollar industry of multivitamins and supplements with no actual visible results. Instead, singular herbs such as avala, giloy, etc., have been promoted as immunity boosters. Still, no attention has been given to the correct techniques for using them to achieve visible effects. So, the proper methodology, as per Ayurveda, to increase immunity is to detoxify your body scientifically first, and then start taking immunity-boosting drugs to achieve 100% results. Ayurveda is more of a science than just some old texts mentioning nature ways to heal and treat, it is a gift to human beings, we need to accept the texts as it is and follow it more authentically to make the most use of it.
